Panjim, Feb. 4. It was a real big celebration in honor of Don Bosco at Don Bosco, Oros, Sindhudurg on January 28 & 29, 2017 as the district of Sindhudurg, for the first time, witnessed a hosting of a mega-event, Don Bosco Youth Festival of India (DBYFFI).
To make the event more accessible and appealing to the people of the district, the screening of the films were kept on an open football ground where more than 1500 people gathered each day. The inaugural lamp was lit by Father Clive Telles - Rector, along with Sainath Jalvi - Producer & director of Marathi and Hindi movies, Nilesh Joshi - actor & anchor for TV channel, Sneha Kulkarni - actress from Mumbai and others.
The inaugural celebration began at 6 pm with the prayer dance on a large stage, followed by the short overview of the congregation and the film festival itself. 'Powada', a story of Don Bosco told in the song and action was an instant hit.
The Don Bosco students who have already acted in movies were felicitated with the mementos of the DBYFFI. School & Junior college children were prepared with the workshops conducted by the film personalities from days prior to the screening of the movies. They were given inputs about acting, directing, shooting, script writing, make up, and the technical details of evaluating a film. These workshops will finally culminate into a project by the children: writing the script, acting, shooting and directing the short film with the help of the professionals in the days to come.
