Panjim, Nov. 12. After an eventful three day visit to the Salesian Province of Panjim, Rev. Fr. Adriano Bregolin left for Mumbai on 10th November, en route to Rome. On the last two days he met with the Salesian Family, the pre-novices of the Panjim province and some youth of Bal Sadan, Paliem.
On the second day of his stay, 8th November, Fr. Bregolin had a very meaningful session with members of the Salesian Family, 160 in all, at the Don Bosco Engineering College, Fatorda. He expressed his gratitude to them for making time to be with him, he spoke to them about the meaning and the significance of the Salesian Family for our times, and challenged them to carry forward the five goals of the Rector Major, shared through his Strennas. He specified that the goals are: a) the defence of the life of all people, b) the promotion of the family, c) the re-discovery of salesian pedagogy, d) the care for evangelization and e) vocation guidance.  Each of the Salesian Family groups present introduced themselves in an informal manner, and then they had a dinner with the Vicar of the Rector Major.

On 9th November, his final day in the Province, Fr. Adriano took a trip to the Pre-Novitiate and gave them a conference, making it explicit that a religious vocation is not a personal project that one gives oneself to, for a certain number of years, as long as one pleases. ''It is a call from a God of love, who looks on a person with love and waits for a similar response'', he said. The pre-novices and the salesians were enthused by this visit of Fr. Bregolin, and expressed their sentiments during the Eucharist that followed and the family circle that brought the day to a close.

A brief stop-over, on the return journey, at Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan, Paliem was heart-warming. Fr. Arvind Severes and the few boys who had stayed behind during the holidays, gave Fr. Bregolin of their best in song, dance and speech. Fr. Adriano invited them to develop into young men with good heads (intellectual preparation), good hearts (concern for others) and good hands (people who do good to others, while also acquiring the skills needed for life).

The Province of Panjim feels blessed by this visit of the Vicar of our Congregation and wishes him God speed as he continues to assist our Rector Major in the months preceding the General Chapter.
