TRASI Alumni Meet By Fr Leo PereiraPanjim, Oct. 25. The DBTech Trasi had its Alumni meet this year with Rev. Fr. George Quadros, Assistant Director of DB Tech, India, as the Honourable Chief Guest. Other important guests were: Rev. Fr. George Quadros, Assistant Director of DB Tech, India, as our Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Belladi Shankar Shetty, President of Taluk Panchayath, Kundapur Taluk, Rev. Fr. Anand Norahana Principal and Rector of Don Bosco School, Mr. Vincent Fernandes, State Coordinator of DBTech, Karnataka, Mr. Arun Mendonca, Vice President, Parish Council Thallur Parish, our Director Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira.
The Director, Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira introduced the Chief Guest Rev. Fr. George Quadros as a person who has been very instrumental in touching the lives on many and for his tireless efforts in replenishing the earth through the water shed program, the BOSCO PLUS-solar lighting of the villages and the Mobile school.
Fr. George who was overjoyed at the number of youth gathered for the ''Alumni meet'' said, ''It is enough for me to know that you are young to love you''. He then congratulated the center for tracking of trained trainees and said that the number speaks for itself. He said that this was the best center from the point of training, documentation and tracking. He further said that this umbrella of DB tech India has trained 46000 youth all over India of which a good number of 34000 are working. Others are pursuing studies while still others are in self employment. He congratulated the youth gathered for undergoing training at this center and later informed that the details of every candidate trained is available on the web site: www.donboscodatabank.in.
He later launched the ''Don Bosco youth helpline card'' which is toll free and that the youth could avail this facility for counseling and in case they seek jobs, if unemployed. It's a network that is being launched to help youth in need and in difficulties. A demo was presented with Pradeep one of the youth calling up the helpline 1800-208-5555. He further added that the youth having the card will avail 25% concession if they intend pursuing higher studies and technical training that is available at any Don Bosco Centers in India.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Belladi Shanker Shetty, President of Taluk Panchayath- Kundapur expressing his gratitude to Don Bosco Tech, said that he was very grateful to Don Bosco who is reaching out to the youth in the rural areas and particularly those belonging to the BPL class. Appreciating the work of the institute and management he said that he would inform the youth via the Panchayaths to take training in the courses offered here.
Fr. Anand Noronha, congratulated the Director and trainers for their dedication and hard work done. Addressing the gathering he congratulated the youth for joining the work force and for bringing about a change in their lives and in the lives of their families.
Mr. Vincent Fernandes, then address the youth imploring each one to have a goal and the need to strive in achieving that goal. Our leader Don Bosco helped youth to look for a life that one of sustaining and stable. He added, ''The need to work for a purpose in life is the key to a successful living''.
Mr. Arun Mendonca highlighted the fact that the Central government choosing DB tech to implement the project is in fact already a great privilege. Commenting on the training done here, he said that he was sure that there was no compromise done after looking at the behaviour and attitude of the trainee.
The Hotel Management practical lab was inaugurated by Mr. Belladi Shanker Shetty in the presence of the other dignitaries. Later lunch was prepared and served by the Hotel Management trainees. The up gradation and infrastructure was subsidize by DB Tech, New Delhi National Office.
Fr. George Quadros along with the other dignitaries distributed Certificates and the Demand Drafts of worth Rs. 5,26,000/- to the beneficiaries of the project. This was an incentive given by DB Tech India to encourage the youth to continue working hard and achieve their goals.
The program ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the Hotel Management Trainee Mr. Annappa. Delicious lunch followed and there was a smile on every face.
