Panjim, Nov. 21. The Regional Councillor for South Asia, Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga sdb, brought the curtains down on the Extraordinary Visitation of the Province of Panjim-Konkan on November 19, 2011.
Fr Kanaga arrived here on September 30, began the Visit on  October 03, made a round of the 18 communities that make up the Province, visited the extension services such as the Watershed Villages, the ministry to the migrants and to the disadvantaged families and their children, met the BPL youth in the MoRD centres and the members of the Salesian Family, preached a Retreat to Leaders of the communities and other Salesians and brought the entire process to a close with the concluding conference to the confreres on  November 19.
Fr Regional went about his task in a very unpretentious manner, spending much time listening to confreres, encouraging the good being done and making pertinent observations regarding the need for fidelity to our Salesian vocation and to the charismatic mission entrusted to us.  Overall, he expressed his happiness that the basics of religious life were strong and the fact that much good was being done.  He urged the members to make concerted efforts at vocation animation, at looking beyond our institutions to the needs of the neighbourhood and the need for a review of youth ministry in line with the thinking of the Congregation.
Fr. Kanaga left the Provincial House, Odxel today en route to Rome.  He left us with a heart full of gratitude and a sense of satisfaction.
