Panjim, Sep. 26. The practical trainees of the Salesian Province of Konkan attended a two day animation programme on September 24-25, 2011 at Don Bosco Odxel. The purpose of the meeting was to be more effective in the respective places of the apostolate and also to share a brotherly union.
Altogether 16 clerics participated in the meeting. The meeting began with the Holy Eucharist at 9:00a.m. celebrated by the Vice-Provincial Rev. Fr. Paul D'souza.
We began our first session on how to animate the sodality groups in our respective places. The resource person for the session was Fr. Simao Fernandes SDB. In this session we were informed about the history behind the establishment of the sodality groups and later we discussed on how to make our sodalities effective. This session was very helpful for all the practical trainees to make the sodality groups more effective and more spiritual.
In the afternoon we had a session on the Personal hygiene and First Aid. The resource person for this session was Mr. Jovito Lopes. He is the national member of Red Cross, presently secretary of Goa Red Cross and editor for Herald, sports section. The session was very informative and also practical. With his vast experience he was able to answer all the questions regarding the personal hygiene and first aid. All the practical trainees were grateful for this wonderful session.
In the evening the Provincial Fr. Ian Figueiredo gave a small conference to all the practical trainees. The conference began by sharing of experiences in various places of our apostolate. Fr. Provincial told us about the need to take personal responsibility for our own vocation. He told us to avoid blaming others and focus on our calling which we professed freely without any compulsion from anybody.
The following day the Provincial Celebrated the Holy Eucharist for us and in his sermon he stressed on the need to reflect on the first yes we made to God. He told us that very often we give an emotional yes to God and when that subsides we also change our decision. The sermon helped us to reflect on our own vocation.
The session on Team Work and Time Management was conducted by Dr. Jorson Fernandes. He is an ENT specialist, a resource person for conducting conferences for the corporate sectors of both in and out of State and he is also a social activist. He with his vast experience was able to make us understand that value of time and team work. He also explained to us about the team work and time management through simple games. His explanation on the topics was really interesting and very reflective. This was the last session for the day.
At the end of the practical trainees meet all the clerics returned to their respective places of apostolate with lot of enthusiasm and passion to work for the youngsters under their care.
