Don Bosco Relic Casket at Oros. By Ralin De SouzaPanjim, Aug. 17. A solemn welcome to Don Bosco was given by his sons and daughters at 9:00 a.m. in Oros (Maharashtra) at the Salesian Sisters Convent. The theme of the mass was ''Don Bosco- Devachya Mogachem Novol.'' The Collector flagged off the rally. The police band, the traditional Kalash, the Maharashtrian lezim and the students of Don Bosco High School spiced up the rally with their music, dance and enthusiasm. Young girls showered flowers on their beloved Don Bosco to welcome him to their School. More than 5500 devotees flocked to worship and thank God for the gift of Don Bosco. They came in from the Salesian Parish of Kudal and several surrounding parishes. People of various faiths were geared up with the vibrant enthusiasm of the Students.
The culmination was the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rt. Rev. Bp. Alwyn Barreto of the Sindhudurg Diocese, along with Fr. Ian Figueiredo (Provincial of Konkan Province), Fr. Lino Lopes (Parish Priest and Principal of Don Bosco, Oros) and 20 other priests. The Bishop spoke about the life and journey of Don Bosco and advised the people to follow his footsteps. The crowd kept on pressing for blessings from the FATHER and FRIEND of the young. The Sindhudurg Diocese paid homage along with the clergy and religious to the relic of Don Bosco.
Fr. Lino Lopes thanked and appreciated the desire of the faithful. The melodious choir comprising of the Parish Youth of Oros, Nerur, Ranbambulim, the Pre-novices and the choir master Fr. Simao enchanted the Holy Liturgy with their heavenly singing. The teachers, the school staf , the parish youth and the Salesian family members went out of their way to run the entire days programme smoothly. The entire gathering was served with delicious lunch.
The last words of Don Bosco to his salesians have come true, ''I leave you here on the earth but only for a short while. I hope the infinite mercy of God will enable us all to meet one day''. Today, he is here in our midst.
