Salesian Co-operator Places Statue of Bl. Mary on Mount Everest

New Delhi, Jun. 14. Tagit Sorang Abraham, hailing from Itanagar, and a Salesian Co-operator of the Dimapur Province, successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 31, 2021, a little after 8.00 am, and placed on Everest's peak the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Holy Rosary.

The Salesian family received the news of the success of Abraham with great joy and enthusiasm. The Association of Salesian Co-operators were happy to note that his feat came on the last day of the Marian month. The association praised his devotion to Mary and Salesian upbringing.

Abraham is the second person from the State of Arunachal Pradesh to achieve this feat. It was a team of 12, among them six Indians, who scaled Mount Everest. He had been training himself passionately to reach the peak for the last four years. Abraham spoke to the Council members of the Salesian Co-operators of the provinces of Dimapur and Guwahati at an online felicitation programme on June 13, 2021. It was a joyful moment for all. It would inspire hundreds of Bosconians in our institutions who would feel proud of belonging to the Salesian family, said Father J Manipadam.
