DON BOSCO SWEEPS MIZORAM LIKE A STORM

Guwahati, Jun. 12. Shillong, June 10:The Mizo people have a special love for Don Bosco. Today as the pilgrim casket containing the relic of Don Bosco entered the check Gate of Mizoram at Vairengte, the people vied with one another to have a little time alone with Don  Bosco. The St. Lawrence Church premises danced with the people to welcome Don Bosco. Fr. Balthasar, the Parish priest, said ''Don  Bosco is fulfilling his dream by coming over to St. Henry's School to visit his daughters working here''. The FMAs have been working in the parish since 2005. The people of the neighbourhood and the school children had the privilege to meet Don Bosco and ask him to pray for them personally.
St. Joseph the worker parish, Kolasib, was overjoyed that they were not forgotten by Don Bosco. Fr. Joseph Lalbiakthanga, the parish priest, together with the faithful sang hymns in honour of Don Bosco and thanked the Salesians for making him available in Diocesan parishes. He said, ''it is matter of great joy for us to experience the presence of Don Bosco with us. He is a saint of joy and youthfulness. He gives hope to this generation.  His coming to our parish will definitely enthuse our young people to strive for holiness''.
The people of St. Peter's Parish, Kawnpui, together with Fr. Mathew Arackal, the parish priest and the Salesian sisters working in Kawnpui gathered in the most level place available the market to have a ''Darshan'' of Don Bosco. ''We never expected a saint to visit us'' said Mr. Laldawngsanga. This has become a reality for us today. The people prayed and sang hymns in the market praising Don Bosco.
Praise and worship was the characteristic of the faithful of Sihphir when the sacred relic of pilgrim Don Bosco entered their church. Spontaneous hymns of praise and worship led by Fr. Augusutine Lalbiaksanga and his congregation.
St. Thomas Parish Ramhlun, Aizawl,  was another stop for the pilgrim relic of Don Bosco, where Fr. Harry D'Silva led his congregation to honour Don Bosco in a special manner. Rt. Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, CSC, the Bishop of Aizawl was personally present to welcome Don Bosco into the Diocese. He spoke on the occasion with great love and appreciation for the work done by the Sons and Daughters of Don Bosco in his diocese. Various individuals and dignitaries paid floral tributes to Don Bosco, honouring him and requesting to bless them and their families.
Where ever we passed through the High way connecting Silchar with Seling there were crowds gathered in their ''Veng'' the village, to welcome Don Bosco. The Diocese of Aizawl was formerly known as the Diocese of Silchar. It consisted of the districsts of Cachar Hailakandi, and Karimganj of Assam state, the entire Tripura and Mizoram states. On 2nd February, 2002, the Diocese of Aizawl was erected with its new Bishop Rt. Rev. Stephen Rotluanga CSC. Inspite of the short period of work of the Salesians in Aizawl Diocese Don Bosco is well known and admired in Mizoram.
