Fire Kills Three in Maram

Dimapur, Nov. 15. Maram15 Nov 2009: A fire broke out this evening in Maram Centre Bazar destroying lakhs of rupees worth property and killing three young kids of a house. According to the report received here, the fire broke out around 8.30 pm in the living room of Mr. NG Kaba Raphael and Mrs. Kanga.
The victims have been identified as NG Tins Jennifer (4 years), NG Hengkong Justine (7 year) and Kavila Christy (9 years). All of them were students of Don Bosco High School Maram.

The mother who was sleeping with the youngest of the family managed to escape with minor burn injuries, whereas the other three who were asleep were less fortunate. A driver who was on his vehicle noticed the fire in the house and woke up the inmates of the house. But soon fire went out of control devastating everything on its way.

Border Road Development Force, hostel boys and girls of Don Bosco High Secondary School, Don Bosco College boys and girls, 22 Assam Riffles, public and fir brigade from Kangpokpi swung into action. There were about 1000 people fighting the engulfing fire.

The funeral service took place in their native village - Maram Khullen on the following day at 3.00pm. The funeral service was officiated by Fr. Joseph Kindo, the parish priest of Don Bosco Parish Maram.

The Don Bosco College students numbering about 100 of them belong to NSS units of I, II, III and AICUF did voluntary work to alleviate pain and suffering of those who lost lives and property.
