Assam Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi conferred degrees at the 11th Convocation of Assam Don Bosco University at Tapesia Campus, Sonapur, on September 10. The degrees were conferred on 984 students, of which 472 students received Bachelor's Degree in Engineering & Technology, Arts and basic sciences and 494 students received Master's Degree in various branches of Engineering, Science and Management. Eighteen scholars received Doctoral degrees. Gold Medals were awarded to 36 outstanding graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in each programme.

The Governor said, “Be humble enough to take up any job. Remember always that no job is below the dignity of a human being. Beyond finding a job and work for existing companies and organizations, be bold and take steps to give wings to the innovative ideas inside you and become job creators.” He said that knowing anything worthwhile requires a certain amount of risks; be courageous to take risks. 'You are at the right age to fight for the person you want to be. Be a risk-taker,' he said.

The Governor further said that India has become the sixth largest economy in the world and will be the 3rd largest economy in the world within the next decade. He also said that the country is rising not only in economic strength but also in various international arenas, holding a strategically important position in world politics and international relations.

He urged higher education institutions to reflect, reinvent, and adapt swiftly to the new and innovative trends in teaching methodologies to be at par with the best universities and colleges in the world. He invited them to have an open mind to unlearn, relearn and be willing to change the outlook for the better.

The Governor congratulated Assam Don Bosco University on being the first and only University in the private sector in the State of Assam to be graded ‘A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council and to have the 12B status from the University Grants Commission.

The Vice-Chancellor Father (Dr) Stephen Mavely, Pro Vice-Chancellors Father (Dr) Jose Palley and Fr Joseph Nellnatt, Directors of Schools, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students and eminent dignitaries from all over the country were present.
