Preliminary Session of the Provincial Chapter Inaugurated by The Salesian Province of Tiruchy

Tiruchy, Oct. 26. Fifty Nine members gathered in Don Bosco - Manikandam, Tiruchy to celebrate the VI Provincial Chapter 2015 of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy. The Chapter commenced with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Most Rev. Antony Devotta D.D., the Bishop of Trichy, on 20th October, 2015 at 06:30am in the Chapel of Don Bosco Manikandam House. Fr. Albert JOHNSON, the Provincial of Tiruchy province, welcomed the Bishop and all the participants of the Provincial Chapter 2015. In the prayerful celebration of the Holy Eucharist the Bishop invited all the participants to be open to the Holy Spirit and follow Don Bosco with one mind and heart.
The inaugural session began by invoking the Holy Spirit with a Hymn and by lighting of lamps. The Moderator, Fr. Santhanaraj UBAGARAM welcomed the gathering. Fr. Provincial donned a ponnadai to the Chief Guest Most Rev. Antony Devotta D.D.

The moderator then read out the messages of the Rector Major - Fr. Fernandez Artime Angel, Vicar General - Fr. Cereda Francesco and our Regional Councillor - Fr. Kanaga Maria Arokiam. Sr. Margaret FMA, the representative from the Salesian Sisters, Sr. Annie SMA, the representative from the SMA Sisters, Mr. Peter Diravium, the Provincial Coordinator of the Salesian Cooperators, Mr. A. Charles, the President of Don Bosco Alumni - Salesian Province of Tiruchy and Mr. Edwin Alex, representing the Ilamai Youth Movement of our Province in their addresses prayed and wished all success for this provincial chapter. Bros. Arockiasamy SELVAKUMAR and Raj ARUL read the messages of provincials Fr. Keerappallil Jose Mathew - Provincial of New Delhi, Fr. Vattathara Thomas - Provincial of Guwahati, Fr. Gomes Nirmol Vincent - Provincial of Kolkata and Fr. Godfrey D'Souza - Provincial of Mumbai.
Fr. Provincial began his address by thanking all the dignitaries. He invited the participants to sincerely join hands with others to work for the youth yet without losing the Salesian identity. He then declared open the VI Provincial Chapter 2015. The Inaugural session of Provincial Chapter 2015 came to an end with a hymn to Don Bosco.


The first session, the preliminary session began at 10.30 am and the floor approved Cl. Chittillappilly PAULRAJ as the secretary, and the Cl. Arockiasamy SELVAKUMAR and Cl. Raj ARULas the scrutineers.

The floor approved the working documents.
a. Implementation of GC 27
b. Verification of V Provincial Chapter (PC2013)
c. Effectiveness of Youth Ministry in the Province.
d. Reshaping the Salesian Presences of the Province
e. The Organic Provincial Plan

Various working documents were taken for discussions in the respective commissions and were brought to the floor, discussed and voted. There was a family circle celebrated on the third day.
