Tiruchy, Jan. 3. Boscoree, the all India Don Bosco Scouts and Guides gathering this year has broken the Guinness World Record and set a new record at the Assist World Records and the Record Raisers,  by having  ''The Most number of People Wearing Paper Hats'' simultaneously, on 3 January, 2015 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Thanjavur. Previously the same record was achieved an year ago with 3,045 scouts in Manfeild Park, New Zealand, on 1 January 2014.
As part of the Boscoree Camp Programme, on the final day of the camp, the campers consisting of about 4000 Scouts, Guides and their leaders, made paper hats like the Biretta (Priest's Cap) used by St. John Bosco, and registered a world record of the feat. This becomes very remarkable and significant on the occasion of the bicentenary of birth of St. John Bosco that is going to be celebrated this year.

All the scouts and guides along with their scout masters and the sub camp chiefs gathered at the school ground at 10.00 a.m. Sri. K. Parasuraman, Member of Parliament Thanjavur, Sri. N. Rengasamy MLA and Mrs. Amutha Ravichandran, Chairman, District Panchayet Board, Thanjavur and many others were the dignitaries at the function. Rev. Fr. Noel Maddhichetty SDB, the secretary of the SPCSA declared the event open. The Record event went on for 15 minutes and at the end of it, the whole lot shouted in jubilation.

The hats were made out of old newspapers by which we educated the campers the concept of 'Recycling' and 'Keeping India Clean', which the Prime Minister of India had launched in 2014 to be implemented by every citizen of the country. The old record that was broken was of ''The Most People Wearing Paper Hats'' which was created by 3045 Scouts and their leaders in Manfeild Park, Feilding, New Zealand, on 1 January 2014. Scouts from New Zealand created this record at their 20th New Zealand Scout Jamboree, which occurs every three years. Scouts and Leaders from New Zealand, Cook Islands, Australia, Korea, Tonga and Samoa attended the programme.

The 12th Boscoree, All India Don Bosco Scouts and Guides Gathering, was held from 30 December to 03 January, 2015 in Don Bosco, Thanjavur, cradle of Don Bosco in India.

ASSIST World Records Research Foundation (AWRRF) has been formed with a motive to help all people who have extraordinary talent, to exhibit their talent and let know the world of their talent - irrespective of whether they were rich or poor, VIP or a common man.
