Tiruchy, Jan. 23. The community of the Retreat, Yercaud, organized for the second consecutive year blood donation camp in its premises on 19th January, 2014, Sunday. The initiative was done by the students of Jnanodaya Salesian College to motivate the Oratory youth of the hill to come forward to donate blood so as to save lives in danger. The medical staff from Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Salem, reached the spot at 10.00 a.m. Fr. Amalraj Susai, the Rector, inaugurated the event expressing his appreciation for it.
The students reach out to 21 villages on the hills on Sundays and have contacts with 800 youngsters. There was a good response as fifty three youngsters volunteered to donate blood.

The camp was closed at 1.45 p.m. and the medical staff appreciated the initiative of the institute. They also handed over the certificates of appreciation to the individual blood donors and to the institute that took the initiative of organizing it.

The youngsters felt happy and proud to be part of the life-saving mission. Some even opined that we could organize it twice a year. It was indeed a good experience to see many self-sacrificing youngsters coming forward to help people in need.
