Eight Salesians Make Perpetual Profession at Tiruchy

By Fr. Francis Gamaliyel
Tiruchy, Jun. 1. The feast of Mary Help of Christians was a momentous day for Tiruchy province as eight young Salesians made their perpetual profession at Amsam, Tiruchy.
In a glittering function at Amsam on 24 May 2011, eight young Salesians, who made their perpetual profession, yet again proved that Tamilnadu is a seedbed for vocations. To cap it all, Br. Thomas John Leo SDB, one of the eight, has volunteered to be a missionary.
Fr. Albert Johnson SDB, provincial of INT presided over the mass and received their vows. Speaking on the occasion he cautioned them, ''Trust not titles, qualifications or money but God. If you place your trust in God, He will never fail you.''
It was a beauty to behold eight energetic young men shunning the temptations of the materialistic world and to embrace the road less travelled. The young men were beaming with joy that their long dream has coming true. They thanked God profusely for choosing them to serve the poor youth through the Salesian congregation. As immediate preparation for the perpetual profession they spent a fortnight at Coimbatore in prayer and discernment.
The province was doubly delighted as sixteen of its novices made their First Profession on 24 May, 2011. Fourteen novices made their profession in Yellagiri Hills and two in Manoharabad.
Earlier in the day forty-six brothers in temporary profession renewed their vows at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Tiruchy. Fr. Dass Kennedy SDB, newly appointed vice-provincial prepared them for the renewals and received their vows.
