First Batch of Sri Lankan Refugees Graduate

Tiruchy, Apr. 6. The first batch of Sri Lankan refugees, beneficiaries of the SLR-US New Beginnings Project graduated on April 05, 2011 at a glittering ceremony held at Don Bosco Manikandam, Tiruchy.  243 students trained from 10 Don Bosco institutions in the Salesian Province of Tiruchy received their certificates at the graduation day ceremony.
The guest of honour was Fr.Albert Johnson, the Provincial of the Tiruchy Salesian Province. The other guests included Fr.Thamburaj, Director, Cauveri Development Office; Fr.Antony Joseph, Economer, Tiruchy Province; Fr. Arockia Raj, Director- Alaihal; Mr. Mohan, Head of HR, Rane TRW Steering Systems Ltd and Mr. M.Sridhar, President of theTamil Nadu Video Association.  
Following the presidential address and the cultural programme, each student was presented with a certificate, tools, T-shirt and a cap.  A short film 'Where do the present youth go?' directed by the SLR-US students of DBIICE, Manikandam was screened.  
Following the ceremony a Campus Interview was arranged by Don Bosco Vazhikatti. Companies present for the recruitment were: LG Balakrishnan Brothers Pvt Ltd. Karur, WIPRO Infrastructure Engineering Pvt Ltd. Sriperumbudur, Hi-Tech Harai Pvt Ltd. Madurai, Shine Soft Technologies, Trichy, Nagi Enterprises, Thuvakudi, A.D.Textiles, Karur and SCM Garment Pvt. Ltd. Tiruppur. After a preliminary interview, the candidates were shortlisted for the final interview after which the recruited candidates would be intimated.  
The programme responsibilities were shared by Fr. Amalorpavaraj sdb, Director-Vazhikatti and Fr. Gamaliel sdb, Director-DBIICE. Group photographs and a sumptuous lunch brought the programme to a close.
