New Delhi, May. 23. Besides the unstinting service of India's medical professionals and other frontline warriors in the fight against the deadly virus, the networks of friends, family and colleagues mobilized to share resources and combat misinformation have contributed to mitigating the situation. Social media and messaging apps also have facilitated this process, allowing relative strangers to lend a hand. Following this cue, the social media groups and networks established by the Alumni Association of Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, proved invaluable to its members and others.
Already with a valuable source of information and connections on the professional front, the alumni of Don Bosco have become a reliable source of information during the pandemic. With past pupils of the three decades pooling their resources, connections and contacts have turned crucial for the people in their fight against COVID.

Requests for information related to medicines, oxygen availability, hospital beds, plasma, and vaccines flood these groups every day and the response to such requests is almost immediate. The doctors in the group are indispensable for their experience, connections and advice. They also provide material goods like medical services, food, and dry rations to COVID infected and the needy. Dr Varun Khullar supplies materials through his NGO, Chhoti Chhoti Khushiyan. Dr Kenshuk Marwah is the glue that holds the Alumni Association and whose insight and advice are freely available in the group and news programmes, visible to the public. Medical professionals like Dr Vivek Saini, Dr Aseem Gulati, Dr Ashish Gupta, Dr Ankur Kataria and others who work tirelessly to combat the virus also find time to aid their fellow alumni on these networks.

In times like these, working for the survival and safety of others is the responsibility of all. The Alumni Association of Don Bosco, Alaknanda, is proof of the difference made by individuals coming together as a supportive community united with a common goal.
