New Delhi, Apr. 26. The Salesian Province of New Delhi [INN]under the banner of BOSCO Delhi, with COVID-19 solidarity initiatives from 20 communities in different States of North India, provided meals to more than 71,008 individuals supporting 13,745 families in need. The initiative'Stronger Together in Solidarity' is a concerted effort to fight and overcome the life-threatening Corona Virus.
The Salesians of Don Bosco-INN responded to COVID-19 with a simple mission to ensure that at the end of each day, no one goes to bed hungry.  Amidst the unrelenting pandemic explosion, social distancing is a luxury that millions of migrant labourers who make up the informal workforce of North India cannot afford. Several families are forced to sleep hungry in their meagre dwellings, stranded at public places, state borders and roads.

To support these marginalized, 20 Don Bosco institutions provided ration and nutritious cooked meals during the past one month. Children were provided food, milk, biscuits, fruits and even kheer. Also masks, soap and sanitizers have been provided to those in high risk zones. Awareness programmes are conducted by BOSCO Delhi in some slums quarters. The Salesian communities are working with local government authorities to make this a reality.
