CHILDLINE - Don Bosco reaches out to Street Children in distress

New Delhi, Sep. 29. CHILDLINE is a 24 hour toll-free tele-helpline (1098) for street children in distress. BOSCO Delhi through Don Bosco Ashalayam operates CHILDLINE in South West district of Delhi. They work tirelessly 24 x 7 and 365 days and ensure the rights of the children in need and give them special care and protection.
The team responds to the need of the street children in crisis situations, more so in emergencies. This center pursues to ensure that each child in India has access to emergency assistance from CHILDLINE and facilitates rehabilitation of children through a platform of network amongst organizations throughout the country.

Many children are accommodated by other CHILDLINE centers. Some children are sent by Children's Welfare Commission (CWC), Police, NGOs, and Individuals. Don Bosco Ashalayam Delhi provides the immediate care and protection to these children and also offer short stay till CWC and the team restores the child to their homes. In the past years Don Bosco Ashalayam has provided shelter to hundreds of children, admitted many in schools and provided facilities to those children who are transferred and restored.

BOSCO Delhi in collaboration with Childline run by Ashalayam is working together with Police, Health Care, Juvenile Justice, Transport, Legal Education, Communication, Media and the local Communities to create as much awareness on child rights and providing child protection services. The centre has created awareness in Delhi and made the public more sensitive towards the child-related issues.
