SOUTH ASIAN REGIONAL COMMISSION FOR EDUCATION AND CULTURE MEETS AT DON BOSCO PROVINCIAL HOUSE- NEW DELHI New Delhi, Dec. 5. The 10 provincial delegates for Academic Schools and a commission member from every Salesian province in India came together from 3rd December 2011 to 4th December 2011, at the Provincial House, Okhla, New Delhi. The meeting was organized by Fr. Maria Charles, the Director DBYA- INDIA.
This is the third meeting of the commission, in recent years. The follow up meeting was to study the implementation of challenges for the Salesian Schools in India in the context of catholic Education policy of India. Fr. Kuriala Chittattukulam SDB, Secretary for Education Commission, CBCI animated the group. There was also a presentation and discussion on the Right to Education (RTE) Act and the continued challenges the Catholic Institutions face with regard to this! There was a presentation of Child Policy for the Salesian Institutions by Fr. Maria Charles. This is in preparation for a comprehensive policy on children for the Salesian Institutions in our Region. The delegates presented reports on various aspects of Education Ministry carried forward in their respective provinces.
