New Delhi, Aug. 3.  The thirtieth of July was a day which the sisters, teachers, parents and  students of Holy Child Auxilium , R K Puram, New Delhi will never forget. It was the day the Sacred relic of their founder and patron, Don Bosco had visited them. The Relic is on a world tour of almost 130 countries to mark the the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesians of Don Bosco and prepare for Don Bosco's bicentennial birth anniversary (2015).
The Relic, encased in a special casket was welcomed by the children from the main road of R.K Puram. The students, wearing blue tee shirts and white and blue caps printed with the image of Don Bosco, lined the street as a guard of honour. They showered the relic with rose petals as it was being taken to their school by the Salesian Sisters. The Relic was escorted to the school by the junior captains holding flags, followed by children on cycles and other students playing the tambourines and performing with leziums and umbrellas in tune with the rhythmic beats of popular spiritual songs. The beats of the drum gave an added boost to the welcome.

The whole street reverberated with slogans of ''Long Live Don Bosco'' and ''We Love Don Bosco''. Some of the residents came out of their houses to venerate the relic.

The sisters, teachers and the students spared no effort to decorate the school to give a fitting welcome to their founder. Rose petals carpeted the path which the Relic had to take. Hundreds of balloons, buntings and flags with the image of Don Bosco printed on them were put up all over the school. Children lined the streets with images of Don Bosco stuck inside heart shaped placards. The display boards depicting the life and works of Don Bosco were artistically decorated which gave the visitors an insight of the significance of this momentous event.

The Relic entered the school amidst loud applause and music. The headmistress gave a heartfelt welcome to our founder and patron. The children dressed as angels danced to a musical melody leading the casket to the school. The little students of class two welcomed the Relic in their own childish way by performing a vibrant dance which was highly appreciated by the people accompanying the Relic.

A ceremonial prayer service was conducted by the priests at the entrance of the school. There followed the traditional Indian welcome dance by the students of classes four and five.

The students and teachers of each class came in turn to pay homage to their founder. They sang hymns, danced or recited poems in honour of Don Bosco. Over five thousand people comprising of parents of students, neighbours of the school and the faithful came to venerate and pray at the Relic. They showered the casket with rose petals and flowers. There was an atmosphere of pure spirituality and solemnity in the school and definitely the hand of Don Bosco must have blessed many.

The euphoria and excitement came to an end when the time came for the Relic to be taken to the Cathedral. The student council led the casket bearing flags and marching to the beats of the drum to the special vehicle.

Sr.Annie, the headmistress of Holy Child Auxilium School, R K Puram, New Delhi said that this was an experience of a lifetime and that Don Bosco has blessed his followers. For the smaller children it may have been one of the activities in school but in times to come they will understand the enormity of the occasion and feel fortunate that they were a part of such a great event.

The journey of the Relic continues till 2015 and we in India, especially Delhi, say ''Long Live Don Bosco!''
