Don Bosco Alumni (India) Elect New Leaders

New Delhi, Jun. 22. Mr Rajiv Tikmany of Kolkata has been elected President of the Indian National Federation of Don Bosco Alumni during the three-day meeting of the National Council of the Association which concluded on 18 June at Don Bosco, Panjim, Goa. He replaces Mr Rajesh Gupta who held this office for the past nine years. Other newly elected office bearers are Prof. C. V. Francis of Cochin (Vice-President), Dr Stephen Kamson of Dimapur (Secretary), Mr Edward Noronha of Goa (Treasurer). Ms Erenbeni Kihon of Dimapur will have special charge of the women alumni, Mr Ambrose Marak of Guwahati, Dr Ashish Gupta of New Delhi and Mr Cedric Carvalho of Goa were elected councillors.
Speaking on behalf of the National Council, Mr Francis Solo of Kohima paid glowing tributes to Mr Rajesh Gupta under whose dynamic leadership the Indian alumni was able to break new grounds and rise to eminence in various spheres.

In a moving farewell address to the members of the national council, the outgoing President Mr Rajesh Gupta thanked everyone for their wholehearted support which helped the association to revive many dormant units and launch many initiatives during his tenure of nine years. He appealed to them to multiply their forces by creating friendships and networking. As he concluded his speech, he was given a standing ovation by the members.

Earlier, welcoming the alumni from all the provinces of India Fr. Paul D'Souza, Vice-Provincial of the Panjim-Konkan Province, appreciated their enthusiasm and commitment to the association and exhorted them to be carry forward Don Bosco's mission with ever greater dedication and commitment. Fr K. J. Louis, National Delegate, spoke of the origin of the alumni association and its role as partners in Don Bosco's mission. He exhorted them to go, grow and glow in the world with Don Bosco leading them.

The meeting was hosted by the Panjim Provincial Federation of Don Bosco alumni under the leadership of Mr Edward Noronha, its president and Mr Cedric Carvalho its secretary, ably supported by an efficient and energetic team of alumni.
