BOSCONET Don Bosco Network's Impactful COVID-19 Solidarity Relief

Mumbai, May. 1. The prevailing COVID-19 lockdown has affected millions across India. Many migrants are stranded without any source of income, hoping to reach home in their respective native states from their places of work. The expected general easing of the lockdown is intended to help these stranded interstate migrants travel back to their own homes. However, there have been many causalities in the process. Don Bosco Network India is trying to reach out to these most affected through its 11 Planning and Development Offices [PDOs] across the country.

Taking into account, what could perhaps be termed as a systemic failure to address health or wage security of daily labourers, and the plight of the interstate migrants, the Don Bosco Network has been trying to create various support structures even prior to the outbreak of COVID 19.

Don Bosco Solidarity COVID-19 Relief in India has reached out to migrants, people on the streets and in slums, the elderly and children, transgenders, tribals in interior isolated areas. Partnering with the government, corporates, local administration, other NGOs, health and labour services, and individual volunteers, the goal is to sustain and support those in need,

The Don Bosco Solidarity COVID-19 Relief Outreach has distributed 81,969 food kits; feeding 3,28,059 people; manufactured and distributed over 2,36,515 protective face masks; cooked meals for 82,338; distributed 260000 litres of drinking water, and 9,683 sanitary kits and medicines till date. Free psychological and counselling
services are also being offered.

Don Bosco Network is committed in its resolve to reach the unreached, especially the poorest abandoned youth, directly and indirectly to pre-empt tragedies waiting to happen.
