Mumbai, Apr. 25. The Don Bosco South Asia BOSCOM Executive Body had a lengthy 04-hour Google Meet on 25 April 2020, moderated by BOSCOM Delegate Father Ernest Rosario. Due to the various constraints effected by the nationwide lockdown to contain the escalation of the COVID-19, this was an extremely beneficial real-face-time meet of the 15-member BOSCOM Executive Body via Google Meet.
The meeting was scheduled to discuss the specific agenda of the way forward in the year ahead, the annual calendar of events, the 2020-21 budget proposal to the SPCSA [Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia] and the updating of the Don Bosco National Portal.

Beginning with a well-animated Prayer by Father Michael Makri-Delegate INS, the 02 main Onboarding and Business  sessions, witnessed a free, frank and forthright sharing and general evaluation of the Communication Sectors in each of the 11 provinces; the status of the Bosco Information Service news/information flow to the province and national web portals; media ministry during COVID-19 and suggestions to carry on the communication ministry beyond this present crisis.

Father Biju Michael, the recently elected South Asia Regional Councillor joined in the proceedings from Turin. Father Albert Johnson-Secretary SPCSA and Father K. M. Jose-Provincial of the Salesian Province of Madras [INM], also the Provincial In-charge of BOSCOM also participated in the proceedings.

BOSCOM Secretary Father Eugene Florence, presented the minutes of the previous meeting held at Dimapur, while Father P. T. Joseph-Webmaster SPCSA, presented the analytics and the practical implications of using the national portal to the optimum. Father Christopher George-BISIndia Coordinator/Chief Editor, presented the BIS updates. Father Joaquim Lobo-Delegate INP, who represented BOSCOM at the recent SIGNIS India National Assembly in Kerala shared key inputs from the assembly. Father David Mariaselvam-Editor Salesian Bulletin presented the Bulletin details and updates.

Some of the major takeaways from this real-face-time Google Meet, with inputs from Father Biju Michael and Father Johnson, were:
to plan, prepare and pursue the flow of essential information to benefit the Salesians, Salesian Family and all stakeholding-collaborators of the various people-development works.
to provide pertinent support and coverage to various flagship programmes organised by the SPCSA Networks
to ensure that the dignity, loving charity and various accompaniment models with a concern to influence the social-cultural settings inhabited by the young, may be provided diverse platforms
to find means of including other works/presences in Nepal, Bangladesh and the Middle East, beyond India, thus functioning as a umbrella body of the South Asia Region.
study the best practices and plan Digital Assest Management of the Communication Sector; BIS Training of Trainers; address Digital Addiction and Fake News proliferation across our works; Logo finalization; Ethical reportage and disemmination of social media postings.

This meeting in which participants from their own respective rooms/offices across the country, and from Turin were able to participate in real-face-time, is perhaps the first step in paving the way forward for BOSCOM, beyond COVID-19, for a vibrant and a new normal future!
