Madonna 2019 - Inter Junior College Fest begins at Pune

Mumbai, Sep. 20. PUNE: The first day of 'Madonna. 2019' - an Inter- Junior College Fest an initiative of the Don Bosco Junior College Pune, co - powered by Tolani Maritime Institute, Trinity School of Performing Arts, International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Pride Globaltech Services Pvt. Ltd., Nandmani Stores, Haji Zakir Shaikh, Jain Bandhu and Melwin Holidays took off on a very festive note with nearly 2,000 youngsters participating in this festive programme from 25 Junior Colleges from Pune. This programme will conclude on 21st September, 2019.
Father Michael Bansode, SDB Rector of Don Bosco Education Complex welcomed the gathering and unveiled the Madonna Championship Trophy and declared the College Fest  open.   Father Joaquim Fernandes, SDB, Former Regional Delegate BOSCOM, South Asia delivered the keynote address on the theme '' Think Green Keep it Clean''. He gave the example of Greta Thunberg who is a Swedish child environmental activist  credited with raising global awareness of the risks posed by climate change, and with holding politicians to account for their lack of action on the climate crisis. Mr Raghunath Dhole, an Environmentalist, popularly known as the Tree Man spoke about the benefits of planting trees and exhorted the children to plant at least two trees. He himself has planted nearly 12 lakh saplings given for free.  

Youngsters left the premises with joy on their faces having bagged trophies, certificates and medals in Table-tennis, chess, carom, solo singing, group singing, solo dance, elocution, essay writing, quiz and debate. The event aims to bring the youth together for a cause to save Mother Earth through the theme ''Think Green, Keep It Clean''.

Father Bosco D'Mello, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School and Junior College who conceptualised the Fest ''It was a team effort to encourage youth talent and build the community to save our environment'' said he.  
Don Bosco, worldwide has a vision of making the youth responsible citizens and wishes to instil values and spirituality through education. We feel inspired by the words of our Patron saint, ''Education is the matter of the heart.''
