Mumbai, Jul. 13.  Sonada : In the recently published results of North Bengal University's Under Graduate program, Salesian Brothers secured 5 out of 9 first division positions at Salesian College Sonada. The remaining 4 positions went to Bruno Tamang of BA Education who secured fourth position in the college with 64.13 % and three girls Sinoupan R of Education Honours with 66.00 %, Urbashi Tamang of B.Com Honours and Shalini Das of BA English Honours who secured each 60.38% marks.
Complimenting the students Principal Dr George Thadathil says, ''Education Department ever since its inception has been doing well in the college, and has had for more than a decade Vice Principals or Campus Ministers of the college heading it. We have also had excellent faculty in the department over the years, though not all of them we have succeeded to retain. The practical context based learning which is part of the syllabus and curriculum aids in better assimilation and retention. The project that the final year students are expected to complete gives an added incentive to localise the knowledge they have learned from text books, besides coming to first hand knowledge of generating new information from their field studies.''

While Br. Anup R. Kujur of BA Education Honours is the topper in the college securing 66.63%, second position went to Sinoupan R securing 66% marks.

Br. Abhay K. Minj of BA Education Honours snatched 3rd position with 64.75%. marks

Fifth and sixth position went to BA Education Honours to Br Ankur Boiragi 63.38% and Br Alok Lakra securing 63.00% marks.

Two students who missed first division are Brishti Ray C of BA English Hons with 59.25% and Rakesh Sharma of B.Com Hons with 59.13% marks.

A total of 141 students belonging to 8 departments appeared for 3rd year final exams. Of these 130 students cleared the exams with 11 students withheld for back papers.
