Mumbai, Feb. 23. The World Consulta of Social Communication, is being held at Sacro Cuore, the Salesian Headquarters in Rome, from 21-24, February, 2019. Nearly 20 Salesians from across the world are participating in the Consultation.  Father Filiberto Gonzalez, General Councilor for Social Communications of the Salesian Congregation, presented the orientations of the Consultation, the challenges of the meeting, the proposals and the working methodology.
''The proposal of the Dicastery for Social Communications, is to offer to the Provincials, the Delegates of Communication and those responsible for formation an essentially Salesian profile, starting from the current communicative perspective. With this profile of Salesian we look at the present and to the future of our mission of Social Communications among the young.'' said Father Gonzalez.

Father Gonzalez affirmed that the objective of this Consulta is basically to ''offer the profile of a Salesian who can testify the Gospel Values in a society dominated by the digital world.

''The Consulta is composed of consecrated and lay Salesians from the seven regions of the Congregation,'' said Father Gonzalez. ''In general, not only different cultures are represented, but also particular ways of living the youth and the mission inherited from Don Bosco. In fact, the participants in this World Consulta belong to the five continents, and each of them has a different cultural background in the field of communication, which will be a treasure for the Congregation that works in 132 countries.''

To achieve this objective, each participant was asked to present studies on communication and the world of youth. The themes addressed during this meeting are directly linked to Salesian work at the service of young people. They will therefore reflect on topics and preset papers on : Strategic Communication Planning, Crisis Management, Dissemination of Quality Information, Social Networks, Educommunication, Technological Competencies in a Digital Era, Elements of Institutional Communication, Training processes in the field of Communication, Spirituality in the Digital World, Images and Videos as a means of spreading the Gospel Values and Attitudes and Content for Education and spreading the Gospel Values and Formation process for Salesians.
