Kolkata, Sep. 24. Krishnagar: A seminar on venerable Francis Convertini was organized by the diocese of Krishnagar in collaboration with the Salesians of Don Bosco on September 20, 2018 at Sanjivani, the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Krishnagar, a suburban township 100 km north of Kolkata. Joseph Suren Gomes, Bishop of Krishnagar and Father Pier Luigi Cameroni, Postulator General of the Salesians of Don Bosco were the esteemed speakers.
''Father Convertini was an ardent missionary who knew the Word of God was everyone's right and it was his duty to reach it to all, including people of other faith,'' said Bishop Gomes while presiding over the Holy Eucharist before the seminar. Nearly 40 priests concelebrated the Holy Eucharist attended by over 80 religious and lay people.

Father Pier Luigi Cameroni, Postulator General conducted the seminar. Father Joseph Pauria, Vice Provincial who is the Vice Postulator General for the process of canonization of Father Convertini, assisted Father Cameroni with the translation. Father Cameroni expressed thankfulness to late Father Luciano Colussi who  initiated the cause of canonization of Venerable Convertini. ''A saint is not for a Diocese or Congregation but for the entire Church. When we gather for a seminar such as these and pray for God's assistance to bless a believer's holiness with sainthood we ourselves grow in holiness in the Church,'' said Father Cameroni.

The Postulator General reminded the gathering that along with Venerable Convertini, the causes of canonization of Venerables Stephen Ferrando, Constantine Vendrame and Oreste Marengo is in the process. He urged the participants of the seminar to promote prayers through the intercession of these venerables. ''With the help of pictures, statues, media awareness, prayer meetings and seminars we can ask people in need of God's grace to pray through the intercession of the holy persons like Father Convertini,'' said the Postulator General.

Responding to Father Cameroni, several persons spoke on their impressions on Venerable Convertini. Reminiscing the holiness and 'high pitched voice' of Venerable Convertini, Father Peter Gomes said, ''I myself used to make confession to him and I do promote his cause of canonization by distributing prayer cards to sick people.'' Father Badal Ghosh, the Vicar General of Krishnagar diocese said, ''Fr Convertini was known the best as a confessor who would sit several hours for the flocking penitents. we should particularly promote his care and concern for the sacrament of reconciliation.''

The seminar released a booklet on the life of Father Convertini. A set of 18 pictures were also on display from the life of Father Convertini.
