Don Bosco, Liluah commences Platinum Jubilee celebrations By KNOTS CorrespondentKolkata, Dec. 10. The yearlong platinum jubilee celebrations of the foundation of Don Bosco, Liluah began on December 08, 2011 with a solemn high Mass presided over by the Coadjutor Archbishop of Kolkata, Rt. Rev. Thomas D'Souza. The variety entertainment programme was attended by many parents and past pupils. Fr. Thomas Ellicherail, Provincial addressed the gathering. Notable among the guests was Fr. Peter Lourdes SDB, a student of the first batch, who commenced his studies in Don Bosco, Liluah in 1937.
The school grounds were all set for the programme which started at 2 PM. Students of Class 5 heartily welcomed everyone with a song. A colourful carnival march by the KG students was followed by the March Past of the Senior and technical school students. There took place the lighting of the Jubilee flame, the flag hoisting ceremony and the jubilee pledge.
The Rector of DBL, Fr. Biji Thomas welcomed everyone. The Junior School students then displayed a variety of items as Rituranga, Colours of Joy, Unity in diversity, Art of Living etc. A dance performance - Adivasi Steps - by the parishioners augmented the joyful spirit of the day. The Adult Education Project, the Night school and The Technical Section put up wonderful dance performances. The Drill Display by the students of classes 6-8 was the final event of the day.
A concluding message by the Salesian Provincial, Fr. Thomas Ellicherail was Followed by the distribution of awards to the 2011 toppers of ISCE, ISC and ITI. At the end of the function, the Principal of DBL, Br. Jose thanked everyone. The day ended with a lively performance by Mr. Samrat Sarkar, a DBL alumnus, who made the crowd groove to his music.
We thank God, all the Salesians who have worked in DBL, the hundreds of teachers, thousands of students who have made DBL what it is today. The yearlong celebrations will end on December 8, 2012.
