Kolkata, Nov. 1. The Kolkata Province Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) marked the Golden Jubilee of the religious profession of two Sisters with the Mission Month Award ceremony.
The celebrations started off with a concelebrated Eucharist presided over by Coadjutor archbishop Thomas D'Souza of Kolkata along with 15 priests. Scores of religious Sisters and relatives of the jubilarian from neighbouring states participated in the celebrations held at provincial house chapel of FMA Sisters at Dum Dum,  November 01, 2001.
The jubilarians Sr Matilde Xaxa-now serving in Thecho (Kathmandu) Nepal and Sr Susanna Korah from Park Circus (Kolkata) renewed their religious vows during the solemn Eucharistic celebration.

Archbishop D'Souza thanked the jubilarians for their generous and faithful service to the Church and the people of God.

During the felicitation ceremony, the FMA Kolkata province Mission Delegate Sr Teresa Adam briefly narrated the numerous programmes the FMA communities undertook to carry out Pope's Mission Sunday Message for the year.

She reminded the audience of Pope's message in gist saying ''faith has no value unless it is shared.''

Some of the inter community activities included mission quiz, study of pope's Mission Sunday message, outreach activities like fete and collection of aid for the poor of the locality by students who also distributed it, and home visits by Sisters.

Each of 15 communities in the province had submitted their mission activity report to the mission delegate who announced top five winning communities.

The jubilarians handed over symbolic prizes including G.One (jeevan in Hindi means life) type pulsating crucifixes (a la SRK film Ra.One) brought by Sister Provincial Maria Pettayil after her retreat in Manila.

The presence of visiting councilor Sr Lucy Rose completing the extraordinary visitation of Kolkata province was considered added blessing.

There are six FMA provinces in India, namely: Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Mumbai, Shillong and Kolkata.
