Kolkata, Oct. 30. In a solemn function held at Auxilium Parish Kolkata on 29 October 2011, the Salesian provincial of Kolkata Fr Thomas Ellicherail launched the Saturday perpetual novena to Mary Help of Christians and daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Salesian Community Chapel of Auxilium parish Kolkata. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed for public adoration in a tastefully decorated chapel lit up in blue colour.
''The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed early morning at 5.30 daily, as [four] priests of the parish begin their Morning Prayer and meditation. Blessed Sacrament will be kept exposed up to 5.30 pm every day for public worship. The exposition concludes with the Divine Mercy Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament,'' says parish priest Fr K.K. Sebastian.

The Sisters Adorers who have their provincial house in the parish will see how best this devotion can bring spiritual benefit to all the religious and parishioners,'' adds Fr Sebastian who built the new Auxilium Church in 1990s.

He reminded parishioners and religious gathered for the occasion to have great devotion to Mary Help of Christians and the Blessed Sacrament and make the parish a ''power house of blessings for everyone''.

The solemn inauguration of the Saturday Marian Novena and daily Eucharistic Adoration  consisted of the recitation of the Rosary in English, Bengali and Hindi language groups and a short procession around the church followed by recitation of the novena prayer to Mary Help of Christians in the main church.

Fr. Provincial presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration concelebrated by six priests including archbishop of Kolkata.

After the Holy Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was carried in solemn procession to the front of the Church where Salesian Archbishop Lucas Sircar gave the benediction.

Later Fr Provincial carried the Blessed Sacrament in procession to the Salesian chapel of daily adoration.

The devotions launched on the last Saturday in the month of the Rosary (October ) is significant, says the parish priest Fr Sebastian, exhorting some 400 faithful to have devotion to Mother Mary who will lead them to Jesus.

Auxilium parish which started in 1974 has Catholics belonging to the Bengali, Hindi, English and Chinese language communities.

There are also seven women religious communities working in the parish, namely: Loreto Sisters, Salesian Sisters, Daughters of St Anne, Sisters Adorers, Holy Cross Sisters, Missionaries of Charity, and St Joseph of the Apparition Sisters.
