Don Bosco Relic at St Mary's Cathedral, Secunderabad By Anthic JosephHyderabad, Sep. 8. A major stop of the Relic outside the Salesian houses was at St Mary's Cathedral, Secunderabad. The Relic was kept for public veneration where people gathered in large numbers to pay homage. Call it a matter of coincidence or choice, that Don Bosco, an ardent devotee of Mary, should once again find himself in a Church dedicated to Mary right on her b'day.
The casket of Don Bosco reached St Mary's Parish Secunderabad, the co-cathedral of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad at 4.30 pm. Don Bosco was welcomed by eager and enthusiastic faithful who were awaiting the saint's arrival since morning. As soon as the relic arrived the faithful could not hold their enthusiasm any longer and rushed to the vehicle and greeted Don Bosco with reverence. The relic was handed-over to the Parish Priest Rev. Fr Balashowry, who offered bouquet and devotionally welcomed Don Bosco. Sr Helen, of the Daughters of Saint Paul's led the faithful in prayer asking Don Bosco to intercede for everyone gathered around him. The narration of the history and spirituality of Don Bosco by Mr Anthony Joseph inspired many.
The Holy mass began at 5.45 pm, celebrated by Rev. Monsignor Swarna Bernard, the Episcopal Vicar General of Hyderabad archdiocese. During his introduction he spoke of the wonders of Don Bosco and his effective presence amidst those who needed great help from above. Rev. Fr Maddhichetty Noel, the former Provincial of Hyderabad, preached the sermon. In his sermon he elaborated how Don Bosco was a hard worker and a wonder worker who took inspiration from Mary help of Christians.
The faithful poured in numbers till until midnight to see this wonder-worker, the lover of the youth, of whom they heard so much and who still continues to attract huge crowds just by his name. It was wonderful to see thousands of faithful, young and old, men and women standing in long queues just to have a glimpse of the saint and seek his blessings.
