First National Seminar on Youth Development at Sriperumbudur By YANDAVA Kalyan KumarHyderabad, Feb. 28. Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Chennai organized its first national seminar on youth development on 26-27 February 2015. Around 200 participants from across the country and from 15 states participated in it. Besides the academic presentations by around 50 professionals in plenary and parallel sessions, the seminar provided a big opportunity to students from different universities and Colleges to interact and exchange ideas with each other. There was also an exclusive session for the youth conducted by a young panel in the seminar. The seminar also had cultural evening by the students on themes of youth development.
Papers were presented on different themes such as Strategies and Approaches in Youth Development, Education, Employment and Skill Development, Health and Healthy Life style for Youth, Youth Entrepreneurs, Initiatives and Interventions in youth Development In India, Youth Engagement in community, Politics and Governance and Social Inclusion and Social Justice.
From the Salesian province of Hyderabad Fr P. Arul Das SDB and Mr. K. Satyanand from Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), Hyderabad participated and presented papers. Fr. Arul Das presented a scientific paper on the 'Significance of Transforming Youth as Entrepreneurs'.
Every session commenced and concluded with a short film. Poster making contest from participants was another distinctive engagement in the seminar by educators, practitioners and students from various parts of the country.
The seminar provided a great opening and opportunity to so many youth experts and youth workers from all over the country coming forward with new initiatives and new policies for the development of Youth.
