Nurturing Talents of the Young through Dance and Songs

Guwahati, Aug. 28. A truly wonderful Inter school Dance and Singing Competition was held on 25th August, 2017 in Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura as part of its year-long Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Ten schools from around Tura participated in the competitions. Shri. Robinhood Momin, former MDC of Tura and present Chairperson of the 100 Drum Festivals was the chief guest.
In his indomitable style Momin expressed his delight to be invited as the chief guest on the occasion as music and dance was his favourite hobbies as a youth.  Reminding the audience on the benefits of music and dance he said that music is medicine while dance is vitamin and exhort the students to develop their God's given talents. While appreciating the present trend for western dance and music he urged the students not to forget the indigenous and cultural dance and music as well. He himself being a keen musician, he sang an old number much to the delight of the students present. He wished the management all success in the remaining celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee. He gave away the prizes to the winners.

In Dance Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura (Team A) were declared champions while St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Tura and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Tura (Team B) bagged second and third prize respectively. In singing again Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura took away the first prize. St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Tura won second prize while Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Rongkhon were declared third prize winners.

Participating school thanked Don Bosco School for organizing the competition. They suggested that the competition should be made an annual event.
