Guwahati, Feb. 18. Seven Provincial Commissions (Youth Pastoral, Mission, Technical, Formation, YAR, Social Communications and Past Pupils) of Guwahati Province met on 16th February at the Provincial House, Panbazar to chalk out plans for the year 2017. The meeting was co-ordinated by Father Januarius Sangma, Vice Provincial. Father VM Thomas, Provincial addressed the commission members and encouraged them to give the best to carry out the vision and the mission entrusted to the commissions.
Speaking at the inauguration of the commissions meet, Father VM Thomas said that each commission should have a system in place for consolidation and expansion of the works. ''The commissions help in setting something in place,'' Father Thomas said. He called upon the commissions members to be 'dynamic conscious evangelists' and to be close to the young people especially the poor. He added that the works of the commissions is important for the province, 'if the commissions fail, the province fails,'' he said.
Father Januarius Sangma welcomed the members and thanked those present for the love and concern in accompanying the young. He reminded the members the mission of service to the young and said that we need to serve the young people with love. ''The Provincial Commissions play important roles in animating and governance of the province,'' Father Januarius said. He mentioned that the concrete planning of the commissions will figure in the annual calendar of the province.
The post lunch period saw the different commissions planning the programmes for the year 2017.
