Salesian Brothers Meet 2016

Guwahati, Nov. 19. The Salesian brothers of the three NorthEast provinces of Dimapur, Guwahati and Shillong came together for a three days animation programme at Don Bosco Provincial House, Guwahati. The meeting which began on 18 November was inaugurated by Father Joe Mannath, CRI National Secretary. The theme of the programme is ''We are a Family! Every Home, a School of Life and Love.''
While inaugurating the three day programme, Guwahati Province Vice Provincial Father Januarius Sangma, welcomed the coadjutors and said that the coming together of the Salesian brothers is a happy moment. He recalled the great contributions of Salesian brothers in the NorthEast. ''Great Salesian brothers with their dedication and lives have contributed to spreading Don Bosco charism in the NorthEast.''
He extended welcome to Father Joe Mannath who will animate the three day programme for the brothers. While welcoming Father Paul Olphindro, the Vice Provincial of Shillong and Father John Bosco Parianayagam, the Vice Provincial of Dimapur, Father Januarius Sangma said that even though the three provinces have been separated for better administration, there is a great sense of collaboration and fraternity among the Salesians of the three NorthEast provinces.

Father Paul Olphindro, Vice Provincial Shillong Province read out the letter of the Rector Major Father Angel Fernandez Artime concerning the vocation of the Salesian brothers.

A book entitled ''The Vocation of the Religious Brother in the Church'' written by Br Abraham M. Antony and published by Don Bosco Publications and Vendrame Institute Publications, Shillong was released by Father Joe Mannath during the inaugural programme.

In the inaugural talk Father Joe Mannath stresses on the need of being simple to make religious life happy. ''Each one of us is asked today to live the Gospel and to follow Jesus in His simplicity,'' he said. He added that the life of every Salesian Brother should inspire young people so that they could response and have passion to the vocation to be religious brother.
