DBI organizes the Annual Youth Fest Programme

Guwahati, Oct. 8. As part of the Faith Formation of Youth, ''Faith Fest 2016'' was organized at DBI from 07 - 10 October, 2016 for Catholic students persuing college and university studies. The theme for the 4th Faith Fest is ''To Christ through the Gospels. I am the Way, the Truth and he Life (Jn 14:6)'' The theme was intended to create awareness among the Catholic youth to be more active as good Christians and citizens in Parishes, Schools, Colleges, and Families, etc. 350 participants hailing from 22 centres of the Salesian Province of Guwahati actively took part in the different sessions and competitions organised on the occasion.
Inaugurating the programme Chief Guest Father Joseph Nellanath SDB, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Assam Don Bosco University said that he wanted to share the faith he has in God with the young people that prompted him to accept to be the chief guest on the occasion. He wished the participants to have deeper faith in God and to be prompted and guided with God's grace. ''It was the faith that I had in God that I am standing here today,'' he testified. ''I was given a second life and that made me have a deeper faith in God,'' Father Nellanath added. He encouraged the young people to always keep God at the centre of one's life and never to forget Him even when one is busy with studies.  
Dr. Martin Kasper, President ChildAid Network Germany who was the Guest of Honour spoke of the vision that every young people should have. He challenged the participants to have faith in God and in themselves and to forge ahead in life. ''You will encounter difficulties and challenges in life, but if you have God and believe in yourself you will succeed,'' he said.

Some of the highlights of the Faith Fest were group songs, dances, skits and Bible quiz etc. Moments of meditations, prayers, Gospel reflections, Sacrament of reconciliation and ''Taize Prayer'' experience are other events to help in increasing the faith of the participants.

Father Johnson Parackal, Executive Director and Rector of Don Bosco Institute welcomed the gathering. He encouraged the participants to take active part in the programmes and learn about faith from the sessions and become person of faith. Father Paul Rabha, the youth coordinator of the province is the in-charge of the faith fest.
