Father Joseph Mung Ordained a Priest by the Bishop of Aizawl

By Father. Bivan R. Mukhim
Guwahati, Jan. 28. Father Pau Lian Mung Joseph, SDB was ordained a priest by   Rev Stephen Rotluanga,  Bishop of Aizawl, on 20 January 2016 at Holy Cross Church, Champhai, Mizoram. The new priest was presented to the altar by the parents accompanied by Father Januarius Sangma, Vice Provincial of Guwahati. Many religious, priests and lay people took part in the ordination Mass.
''It is a privilege to be called by God to serve Him and His people as priests and religious,'' said Bishop Stephen. He reminded the role of a priest; to teach, to love and to sanctify. He also shared in his sermon the importance of the vows. ''Today the practice of the vows of poverty, obedience and chastity are so important in particular in this world where communication has taken the upper hand,'' he added. The bishop exhorted all those present at the occasion to pray for the newly ordained priest and for more vocations to priesthood and religious life.
The newly ordained priest thanked his grandparents and parents who were instrumental in his priestly and Salesian vocation. ''My parents instilled in me the reverence I need to give to God. If I am ordained a priest today it is because of them,'' he said. He also expressed gratitude to the Salesian congregation and the province of Guwahati for the trust and confidence in him.
