First ever Don Bosco Teachers' Convention

Guwahati, Oct. 14. The Don Bosco School Excellence Mission (DBSEM) will organise the first ever Don Bosco Teachers' Convention at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati on Saturday, October 18 for all the teachers of schools owned and managed by the Don Bosco Salesian Society, Guwahati.
Teachers of around 30 secondary schools spread all over Lower Assam and Garo Hills of Meghalaya are expected to take part in the day-long convention. The DBSEM has been set up by the Salesian Province of Guwahati as the nodal agency for upgrading all the schools to cater to the needs of the 21st century. The convention is being organised primarily to motivate and enthuse the teachers to embrace change and equip themselves to meet the educational challenges of the time. The convention is expected to be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Education Minister Pradyut Bordoloi in the presence of other eminent educationalists of Assam.

During the convention, Fr C.T. Lukose SDB, founder director of Snehalaya group of Don Bosco Institutions, Fr PD Johny SDB, Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura, Meghalaya and Fr VM Thomas SDB, Salesian Provincial, Guwahati Province are expected to present papers on child rights, on the educational system and methodology of St. John Bosco the great educator saint of 19th Century, and on the need for educational reform to meet the needs of our century.

Recommendations based on the findings from Don Bosco Schools Teaching and Learning Survey is expected to be released during the convention. Director of Don Bosco Excellence Mission (DBSEM) Fr. Johnson Parackal is the chief coordinator of the  convention.
