Guwahati, Sep. 1.  Archbishop John Moolachira of Guwhati visited Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) for the Sunday Eucharist with the University community, 31 August 2014. Students and faculty along with University staff participated at the celebration held at the University atrium.

Archbishop Moolachira presided over the Eucharist along with the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor and 12 concelebrants comprising of students, faculty and university officials.
He also took the occasion to administer the sacrament of confirmation to eight people, (5 students and 3 staff).
''I am happy to know that Assam Don Bosco University is growing into a premier higher education institution in the country.''

The archbishop in whose diocese is located the first Catholic University in the country established in 2008 added, ''I am also happy to see that there are some 300 Catholic students at this service.''

Reflecting on the readings of the liturgy, in his homily the archbishop called on the students to be inspired by the singing nun who won the Italian national talent contest early this year and was not afraid to testify before the national television audience how she was totally committed to Jesus who called her to serve him as a religious sister.
Archbishop also shared the Sunday reflections briefly to the staff present in Hindi language.

''It needs courage,'' archbishop said addressing eight candidates who would be receiving the sacrament of confirmation from the archbishop.

Soon after the Eucharist, archbishop handed over the certificates of confirmation along with ''Basic Catechism Handbook.''

The ADBU Campus ministry department with its director Dr Francis Fernandez and his team coordinated the preparation of the candidates for confirmation, as well as the preparations for the solemn liturgy celebrated in the atrium.

Special attractions at this year's celebrations were the well prepared multilingual rendition by the university choir, as well as Live Video Streaming of the whole event.
As a token of appreciation, Vice Chancellor Dr Mavely thanked archbishop for his gracious acceptance of the visit and handed over the Sunday collections of the past few week amounting to some Rs.16,000.

''I am grateful to you for the kind gesture, said Archbishop Moolachira stating that, ''this money will go for the archdiocesan scholarship fund for the poor children of our parishes.''

After the Eucharistic celebration, archbishop prayed over and blessed everyone who approached to wish him.
