Nepal technical school principals get training in Delhi

Guwahati, Dec. 24. New Delhi: A group of principals from 12 technical schools of Nepal had a week long training in India.
The program held in the third week of December at DB ARK Don Bosco Animation and Research Kendra at Okhla, New Delhi had Salesian Fr Joe Arimpoor as chief resource person.
''It was a follow up of last year's India visit of a group of CTEVT (Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training) Nepal to Technical Institutions in New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong,'' says group leader Fr Jijo John, principal of Don Bosco Technical institute Thecho, Kathmandu.

Explaining the genesis of the program Fr John says, ''The Member Secretary of CTEVT Nepal Ram Hari Namichhani after his visit to DB Thecho wanted the exposure and training program for Nepal Technical School Principals.''

Last year's group of principals also visited Assam Don Bosco University in Guwahati.

''I was really blessed to be part of this training and exposure program in India. It was eye opener for me,'' says coordinator of Don Bosco Tech Institute Thecho Purno Kumar ecstatic about his India visit.

The program held December 17-22, had the theme: Towards Leader-Principals Don Bosco Way.

The training modules consisted of both theoretical and practical inputs showcasing best practices in technical education.

Fr. Arimpoor, who has a doctorate from Columbia University, presented the best practices of the leading private sector - DB Tech India, the Technical Education Group in the country which has some 125 centers all over India.

The topics of study included: New Pedagogy for our times, Education Beyond Knowledge and skills, Relationship skills, and Synergizing for Excellence.

The practical exposure module included visits to Don Bosco Technical Institute at Okhla, New Delhi; interaction with NABET, (Quality Council of India) CEO Mr Vipin Sahni; and interaction with Industrial Association, CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) Deputy Director-Skill Development Neeta Pradhan, at Gurgoan.

The visitors had also opportunity to visit one of the seven architectural wonders of the world - Taj Mahal, at Agra, and a ride through the ancient civilization of India at the Swamy Naryan Temple at Akshardham, a unique cultural complex that symbolizes the glory of Indian Culture.

The participating principals represented Technical Schools of Bheri, Lahan, Uttarpani, Karnali, Jiri, Dang, Butwal, Chitwan, Techo and three Kathmandu institutes in Nepal.
