Economer General says ''Indian delegation must come prepared for GC 27.''

Guwahati, Aug. 13. The Salesian Economer General Br Jean Paul Muller on his return trip from meeting of the South Asia Economers held at Siloam had a dinner stop over at the provincial house Guwahati.

Addressing the confreres gathered from Guwahati area Br Muller said, ''the Indian delegation to GC 27 has to come well prepared, and not only present the biggest crowd, but also you are obliged to help change by giving personnel for leadership positions in the Society.''
''Let's go on together,'' he said calling on the generosity of Indian confreres.

Giving more news about GC 27 preparations Br Muller said, ''The Social Communications department proposed to have a paperless General Chapter, but there were some people who were totally opposed to the idea,'' said Br Muller sharing more news about GC27.

Earlier in the briefing Br Muller gave news about some of the critical financial issues the congregation is currently facing, and did not shy away from fielding questions from confreres.

Raising a toast to the visitor Vice-Chancellor of Don Bosco University Fr Stephen Mavely recalled Br Muller's remarks during GC 1996 elections when they wanted to elect him on Salesian Brother's quota.

''If you are looking for a Brother to take the job, I am not in. It should be given to the most competent person,'' said young Br Muller.

Former Dimapur provincial Fr Varghese present at the dinner gathering vouched for Br Mullers intervention in the chapter.

Guwahati provincial Fr V.M. Thomas complemented Br Muller for his leadership and administrative skills to be at the helm of the congregation's affairs in these troubled times.

Provincial, Provincial Economer, and the DBU Vice-Chancellor expressed their great esteem and appreciation for Br Muller's unstinting support to the various projects undertaken by the province starting from his day's at Bonn Mission Procure.

The coordinator of year-end Salesian Brothers Congress to be held in Guwahati Br Angelus Tete greeted Br Muller and extended a warm invitiation to participate at the gathering which is expected to bring together some 100 Salesian Brothers from South Asia.
