Blessing And Laying Of Foundation Stone of DBSI Tezpur By Fr. Thadeus Kujur sdbGuwahati, Feb. 1. The Blessing and laying of the foundation stone for DON BOSCO SOCIAL INSTITUTION (DBSI) at Barua Road, Tezpur was done at 10am, on Jan. 31st the feast of St. John Bosco, Father, teacher and friend of youth of all times.
The following dignitaries were present for the occasion - Bp. Michael Akasius Toppo DD, Tezpur, Bp. Robert Kerketta DD, SDB, emeritus, Fr. V.M. Thomas Provincial Guwahati, Fr. Sebastian VG, Mr. S P Sharma the Circle Officer, Mrs. Smrithi Goswami Circle Officer, Fr. KJ Thomas economer Guwahati, Fr. Ethelbert Minz director DBSI, Fr. Joseph Almeida former provincial, Sr. Angela FMA the pioneer, Sr. Shelly provincial MSMHC Tezpur and others.
There were also a good number of other priests, religious, sisters - FMA, MSMHC, MC, Ursuline, brothers, aspirants and lay collaborator and friends present for the historic function.
Fr.K.J.Thomas welcomed all the dignitaries and people gathered there with words of welcome and the Assamese local Phuln gamucha . A short prayer service was conducted by the FMA sisters for praying for God's blessing, progress and success of the work for the poor and underprivileged section of the young people.
Bp. Akasius Toppo welcomed the Salesians to start the work for the poor and underprivileged youth of that area. He said that we need to believe in God and then everything would be possible. He was also ever grateful to the Salesians for taking up this type of work for the welfare of the young people, which is the need of the young of today, he said.
Fr.V.M.Thomas expressed his feelings, dreams, and future plans for the project, as well as his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. and Mrs Bora for donating the land for this special cause, and to the bishops and clergy of the diocese for giving permission to open up a new centre at Tezpur.
A very special and heartfelt gratitude was also expressed a number of times to Fr. Sebastian VG, who went out of his way to make the land settled. The two circle officers said at their talks that they were happy and inspired by the great work done by the Fathers and Sisters. These Oficers had been extremely helpful for the settlement of the land.
The MSMHC sisters too have shown keen interest to collaborate in this great cause. During the short welcome function, the aspirants of MSMHC, boarding children of St. Joseph convent and the aspirants of Don Bosco Centre Sirajuli performed meaningful welcome songs and of blessing.
The blessing and laying of the foundation stone was done by Bp. Akasius Akasius Toppo. Fr. Ethelbert director DBSI, gave the vote of thanks to all those who came to take part in the ceremony.
