Salesian Administrators (ING) Meet in Guwahati

Guwahati, Nov. 8. On 6th November, 2012, around 35 confreres from the different Houses across the Salesian Province of Guwahati gathered together at the Provincial House, Guwahati, for the Administrators' Meeting.
The Meeting began at 9.30 a.m. with a prayer animated by Fr. Jayaprakash, the Associate Director of Bosco Reach Out, Guwahati.  
The prayer service was followed by a brief introduction by Fr. K.J. Thomas, the Provincial Economer.  During his introduction, Fr. K.J. Thomas welcomed Fr. Provincial and all the delegates to the meeting and also gave a brief overview of the meeting and the objectives the province wishes to achieve by conducting such programme.
Fr. V.M. Thomas, the Provincial, in his opening words spoke of the need of transparency in accounts.  He also spoke of the need of centralizing the accounting system of the Province for better functioning.  He also reaffirmed the Salesian charism of being pro-poor and being able to change with times.
Following the opening words of Fr. Provincial, Fr. K.J. Thomas, the Provincial Economer, animated the next session.  Fr. K.J. Thomas remarked that Salesian style of administration must be a way in which we become witnesses to our Salesian mission, where all our decisions stem from our love for Jesus, in imitation of our Father and Founder Don Bosco, with our vows, the Constitutions and the Regulations as our guide.  The various practical guidelines shared by him included topics like: Monthly Return of Accounts, Handing over of Charge, Check-List for Communities, Skills training programme in our Centers and the Sponsorship Programme ''Fratelli Dimenticati''.
After lunch, Mr. Harish Agarwal, Chartered Account, spoke to the delegates on various topics related to the practice of accounting.  They included topics like: Present Problems in Accounts, Income Tax, Difference between a Religious Organization and a Charitable Organization, Provident Fund.  
The Meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Fr. Thomas Lakra, the Vice-Provincial.
