Relic's stopover at Mawjrong

By Basumatary John
Guwahati, Jun. 22. Cherrapunjee, June 21: The most admired relics of St. John Bosco on a tour to  131 nations since 31st  January, 2009 goes on to visit the tiniest of places where the sons and daughters of Don Bosco live and fulfill the long cherished dreams of the saint.
After a memorable stay at the Shrine of Don Bosco, Cherrapunjee, the saint's casket containing the bones of his right hand stopped at a tiny hamlet of St. Peter's Higher Secondary School, Laitkroh, Mawjrong.  Serpentine lines of people could be seen to get a glimpse of the 'Father'.

At Mawjrong, the pilgrims had enough time to venerate the sacred relic through the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rev. Fr. Muct Kumar Tirkey sdb, Parish Priest. With this halt at Mawjrong, the most memorable days of the Shillong chapter of the urn pilgrimage came to a glorious end in Khasi-Jaintia Hills.

The veneration to the sacred relics in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills will go down to the annals of the Salesian history for ages to come as the lovely, simple and generous people of the Hills demonstrated their deep love and affection to the 'Father' who has done them much good through the hands of his sons and daughters. They are deeply credited to the saint as Meghalaya has been the ultimate receivers of the society's toil. 'Khublei Shibun Phadar Bosco' (thank you dear father Bosco) they shouted in unison wherever the casket stops. Don Bosco has immensely touched and blessed the people of Meghalaya.

With this, 'Father Bosco' bids adieu to the historical people of Khasi-Jaintia Hills leaving a legacy behind his memorable visit to the exotic Hills.
