Sad Demise of Father Joseph Pazhekadavan SDB

Guwahati, Feb. 8. The Salesian Province of Guwahati regrets to announce that Father Joseph Pazhekadavan SDB (aged 86) passed away on 07 February 2018. He met with a serious accident at about 1 pm yesterday near Donka just before reaching Don Bosco, Baithalangso as he was driving the car. He was immediately taken to the Medical Centre at Donka, but was referred to a speciality hospital at Guwahati. He was brought to St. John's Hospital, Guwahati where the doctor declared him dead.
Father Joseph was born on 04th May 1931 at Vaikum, Ernakulam Diocese, Kerala. He made his first profession on 24th May 1954 at Yercaud and his perpetual profession on 24th May 1959 at Yercaud. He was ordained a priest on 09th February 1964 at Turin.
The Funeral Rite will be held on 9th February, 2018 (Friday) at the Christian Cemetery, Uzanbazar, Guwahati. A Requiem Mass will be held on 8th February at 6:00 pm in the Provincial House, Guwahati.

I remember one day Fr. Joseph Pazhekadavan bringing a group of young people to visit Don Bosco Museum Shillong. As he entrusted the group to me he told me to explain to them the various galleries in the museum. He also said, "please give them some instruction on Gospel values..." Such was his missionary heart...
