Don Bosco Higher Secondary School inagurated at Sirajuli

By Father Francis Kalariparampil
Guwahati, Feb. 6. The inauguration and the blessing of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Sirajuli was held on 31 January 2017 at Archbishop Hubert D'Rosario Missionary Aspirantate campus. Father Thomas Vattathara, Salesian Provincial of Guwahati, was the chief guest.
Father Francis Kalariparampil, Principal, said that their participation not only enhanced the solemnity of the celebration but is also a sign of the appreciation of the school that the Salesians of Don Bosco runs following the educational principles of their holy founder, whose feast is being celebrated. Through a symbolic cutting of ribbon and unveiling of a plaque, the chief guest inaugurated the school. The writing on the plaque reads: ''.... School is dedicated to the Youth of the Assam plains.''

The Provincial assisted by Father Ethelbert Minj and Father Barnabas Mardi, then, blessed the building.
Father Thomas Lakra, Rector, in his talk presented a brief history of the school. He emphasized that the fledgling school would serve the poor of the locality giving them affordable education to their children.  Floral tributes were paid to Don Bosco during the programme.

Father Thomas Vattathara in his address exhorted the staff to keep alive their unwavering enthusiasm in order to help to bring out the best even from the least. He called on the students to emulate the tenacity and determination of some of the public representatives both at the National and State levels, who profited from the system of education that Don Bosco envisaged.

Fr Thomas Kunnappillil, who supervised the construction of the building, said that he was grateful to the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco for all the support given to the Province.    He was happy that he was involved in this venture and was able to contribute to the education of the youngsters of the neighbourhood. ''If you are going to live in a community, you have to participate in the welfare of the community. As a Congregation, we are happy to dedicate this school to the community here at Sirajuli. We will be delighted to see the result, which in turn, would invite further involvement in the community,'' said Father Thomas.
