Guwahati, Jul. 29. Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati pays tribute to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the 'People's President' of India on his first death anniversary in its campus on 27th July, 2016. The visionary, scientist, writer and teacher passed away after a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to the students of the Indian Institute of Management in the Meghalaya state capital, Shillong, India last year.
Father Johnson Parackal SDB, Rector and Director of Don Bosco Institute while speaking on the occasion said that we need to imbibe the spirit of the former president. ''Dr. Kalam was loved by everyone, that is why he was called the 'people's president'. His life touched every Indians life in one way or the other. He continues to inspire us to dream for self and for the nation,'' he said.
''This is the day when we remember this great soul on his first death anniversary,'' said Father Johnson.  The community members, the teaching faculty and the students joined in offering flowers as a sign of gratitude to the great leader. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem by those present.
