DON BOSCO INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT RETAINS THE CROWN FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING

By Fr. Francis Fernandez sdb
Guwahati, Feb. 5. At the Assam Institute of Management fest 2010, and at the fest organized by Guwahati Commerce College, DBIM had emerged victorious, thus bringing laurels to the institute in its very first year. So, the onus and expectation for coming out with flying colours in 2011 was an added challenge to the students of DBIM. And most importantly, they had the daunting task of defending their crown. So, with all such aspirations the team from the Don Bosco Institute of Management set out to conquer AIM Quest titled ''Ashwamedha 2011''.
The AIM Quest 2011, conducted on 21st and 22nd January, saw the DBIM students  applauded for their discipline and punctuality, as they were the very first to reach the venue. They participated with great verve and enthusiasm in almost all the events, namely, ad-making, designing a logo and coming up with a suitable punch line, debate, film review presentations, case study contest,  Antakshari, group dance, greeting card making, personality contests, photography and T-shirt painting contests.

The preliminary rounds of the solo vocals saw Mewansha Nongrum of DBIM keeping the audience tapping their feet with some great music and at the end of the day he was selected for the final rounds to be held at Day 2 which he eventually won.

But the mother of all events was 'the Business Plan Contest' and only three elite teams had the privilege of making it to the dias to showcase their business acumen. And among one of them was the team from our institute comprising of Rupankar Das, Sanjeev Kujur and Prakriti Sharma. The event was being judged by Mr. Sabri Ali, a very senior manager of HSBC. Our team's business plan was to open an exclusive mushroom restaurant-'MushFill' in Guwahati. This 'MushFill' team was bombarded with a series of questions by the judges and audience. But they came out unscathed and emerged victorious. They were awarded the highest cash prize of the event as it was the most sought after and prestigious among all the events.

Thus, the invincible force of DBIM won twelve awards, that is, an award in virtually every category in the AIM Quest 2011. To put the icing on the cake, DBIM was also awarded the best Business School and thus we were also able to defend our much coveted crown.
