Youth celebrate 'More Mercy Better Youth' at Salesian College, Dimapur

Dimapur, Nov. 13.         To culminate the Jubilee year of Mercy, Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) organized Youth Meet on the theme: ''More Mercy Better Youth'' for its youth centres in and around Dimapur City on 13th November. The President of All Nagaland Private Schools Association Shri. Bithungo Kikon was the chief guest and Shri. Sana was the guest of honour.
       Speaking at the meet as chief guest, Bithungo said, ''Know Jesus loves you, be merciful and discipline your mind, body and spirit. Youth have not only the potency to be better youth but to be the best, so as to create a better world.'' He remarked the relevance of the theme for youth of today faces more problems and he also said that the solution lies in the Beatitudes, for the Lord said: 'Blessed are the merciful.'

     The Provincial of Dimapur Province Father Nestor Guria in his inaugural talk exhorted all to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and pray for one's enemy. He also encouraged all to emulate Christian spirit of forgiveness from people like Sr. Rani Maria's family who forgave and received the enemy into their own family.

      Earlier, The Rector of SCHE Fr. Tom Karthik, in his welcome speech called all to rejoice in God's name. He emphasised the fact the all are children of God and therefore all are brothers and sisters. He said, ''Love is the meaning of our gathering, we are not different but one and let this message spread far and wide. Thus we can make our families and society a happier place to live in.''

A whole day programme was divided into two parts: the morning hour saw the inaugural ceremony, praise and worship, and animation on the theme ''More mercy better Youth.'' In the noon, a skit was staged by SCHE students on the theme of the day, cultural items were performed by various youth groups, followed by the prize distribution for the winners of Bible skit 2016 and felicitation of Volunteers.

     The Youth Director of SCHE Father Christudoss Anthony, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to God and all the members in the gathering. He left with a message: ''Be merciful and create this world a more understanding and forgiving world.''

    There were about 400 youths and teachers incharge from forty-three youth centres who participated in the Youth extravaganza.
