Dimapur Province gather around it's Jubilarians

Dimapur, Oct. 8. The Salesian Province of Dimapur, comprising the states of Arunachal Pradesh, upper Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, felicitated 13 Salesians in a common jubilee celebration at Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur on 8 October 2016. Two other silver jubilarians of Religious Profession, Brother Biju Joseph and Father Cyriac Manipadam were honoured in absentia as they are working out of Northeast India.
The jubilarians include: Father Thomas Vattoth and Father Mathew Tharakan (Diamond Jubilarians of Religious Profession), Father Thomas Mulayinkal and Father Kuriakose Palathinkal (Golden Jubilarians of Religious Profession), Father Dennis Panipitchai, Father Thomas Vengakunnel, Father Sebastian Thuruthiyil, Father Lazarus Kujur and Father Jeremias Moshary (Silver Jubilarians of Priestly Ordination) as well as Father Theotimus Lakra, Father Benny James Kurian, Father M. J. Vianney and Father Guangdiat Nicholas (Silver Jubilarians of Religious profession).

The two main highlights of the day's jubilee celebrations consisted of the Jubilee Eucharist and a felicitation programme.  The Jubilee Eucharist was presided over by Father Mathew Tharakan and concelebrated by over 60 other priests including Fr. Nestor Guria sdb, Provincial of Dimapur, and Father Lazar, Vicar General of Dibrugarh Diocese.  The homily was preached by Father Thomas Vengakunnel, principal of Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Dibrugarh. In his homily Fr. Thomas acknowledged and thanked the parents, the Salesian Congregation and especially God who has helped them to live and work for youth as members of the Salesian Congregation founded by St. John Bosco.

The Bagpipe Band of Christ King Hr. Sec. School, Kohima, solemnly escorted the Jubilarians into the venue. The Eucharist was preceded by words of welcome by Father C. M. Joseph, Administrator of DBHSS, Dimapur.
The felicitation programme commenced with a scintillating prayer dance by the students of Bosco B.Ed. College, Dimapur. Father Nestor Guria sdb, Provincial of Dimapur Province congratulated the Jubilarians and welcomed everyone. The students of St. Mary's Hr. Sec. School, Padampukhri, performed a rhythmic choreography. Father T. C. Joseph, principal of Bosco B.Ed College, pronounced words of felicitation and screened an audiovisual programme on the jubilarians, videographed in the current places of their life and work. The students of DBHSS Dimapur presented a choir piece in appreciation of the jubilarians. The little kids of BOSCOME schools delighted everyone with a lively Hindi dance.

Representatives of the jubilarians spoke on behalf of their companions. Father V. T. Thomas spoke on behalf of the two Diamond Jubilarians of Religious Profession. Father M. P. Thomas represented the two Golden Jubilarians of Religious Profession. Father T. J. Sebastian spoke for the five Silver Jubilarians of priesthood. Father R. K. Nicholas voiced the sentiments of the four Silver Jubilarians of Religious Profession.
Father Bosco Perianayagam, Vice Provincial, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended on an inspirational note as the whole assembly devoutly sang a hymn in honour of St. John Bosco.
